The Weekenders:

LA + Venice + Mailbu

The golden state was good to us during our week long getaway. The weather was 70’s and bright, we rode bicycles with bare arms through Venice, stayed at a mid-century dream home and had all the juice and vintage we could ever wish for at our fingertips. The West Coast just exudes renewal and good energy that was the perfect start to an exciting new year for us.

Stay / LA

The Line Hotel

For a complete and total LA experience make sure to book a night at The Line Hotel. Set in a historic mid-century building in the bustling area of Koreatown this hotel boasts the very photo friendly greenhouse style restaurant The Commissary. With industrial style interiors the hotel feels very downtown but once you reach your room with floor to ceiling windows outlining a picturesque Hollywood Hills you quickly are reminded you are laid-back west coast living (palm trees in all their glory.) The Line Hotel has the most helpful staff. Make sure to read Dine Around at The Line from our friends at Trends on Trends for more spots to eat around Koreatown.

Moon Juice Shop

We miss Moon Juice already. This Silver Lake staple makes their own cold-pressed, 100% organic juice and nut milk. If we had access to these everyday we promise to be healthier! Stop in to chat with the very knowledgeable and helpful staff. The in-house Moon Juice tonics and dusts will have us all clear mind and body in no time. The packaging is so fun you will love incorporating these goods into your daily routine.

Abbot Kinney

Abbot Kinney is the legendary shopping strip in Venice Beach. Feel like a local visiting favorites like Blue Bottle Coffee, Cuyana and stop a Le Labo to pick up a new scent. A quick traveler tip, rent a couple of bikes from Santa Monica Pier and ride down the coastal boardwalk until you hit Venice. Riding bikes beachside is good for the soul.

The artisanal bakery is located in a sprawling warehouse space on the off streets of Venice. All bread is baked on site so you can imagine this place smells heavenly. Get your second juice of the day here and pick-up a deli sandwich (or pizza) for the beach. This place has got it all.

The curated vintage at Passenger LA was so good that it hurt a little. Flip through their denim offerings and try not to go home with a new pair. The selection is obviously well researched and their thorough study of fashion makes the collection so coveted. Here you will find designer vintage mixed with the highest quality of thrifted finds. Good vintage is lasting so this is the place to invest ladies!

The Apartment by The Line LA

Another The Line LA but this time The Apartment by the Line LA. We loved The Apartment by the Line in New York so much we had to see the west coast version. The lofted shopping space was covered with our minimal furniture wish list. The rugs, home decor and art + design books are impeccably styled but feel almost as though they had just landed their effortlessly. That flood of California light seeping through each corner of the room just made everything that much more desirable. Not only does this story carry our dream home furnishings but they also offer a wardrobe, apothecary and bath selection to make your lifestyle come full circle.

Stay / Malibu

Mid Century Modern Paradise

We arrived at our Mid-Century Modern Paradise late night on our visit to the Malibu coves and quite frankly we were a bit a nervous. Neither of us had ever visited such a heights for a nights rest. Trust us when we say all the jitters were worth it in the morning. Our home for the week was perched upon a hilltop with a view of the incomparable view of the Pacific Ocean. We had our own private, quiet, tree-house style Airbnb that was complete magic. Enjoying our breakfast poolside with majestic views of the sprawling body of water and tons of tropical greenery was really just perfect.

Night + Market Song

For updates on traditional Thai street food add Night + Song Market to your must visit in LA list. This little Silver Lake gem was definitely a highlight of the trip with it’s delicious food and colorful interiors. Order a few dishes to share to get a taste of everything (because you will definitely wish you had time to try the whole menu). We thought we were playing it safe adding one order of pad thai, said pad thai was best we ever had. Don’t miss this spot!

The Butcher's Daughter

Yes, we know we have a Butcher’s Daughter in the city but this sweet storefront in Venice stole our hearts. Juice, salads, sandwiches and beach - that’s all we need to be happy. With mostly vegetarian inspired dishes the bright space, light wood and outdoor style furniture had us pretty convinced the Venice lifestyle is for us.
